Jeremy Carroll and Julian Harf recently won a defamation case in Roanoke City General District Court defending the City of Roanoke and city employee Tonya Pickett. Sgt. Jason Hicks, a Roanoke police officer, alleged that the City and Ms. Pickett defamed him in Facebook posts related to the 2020 “End Racism Now” street mural, a city-approved art project. The Court ruled that neither the mural nor the related Facebook posts defamed Sgt. Hicks.
