The Salem City Council unanimously voted Jim H. Guynn to serve as the new City Attorney. Jim has enjoyed serving the city council members and staff in an interim role since last November, and looks forward to continuing his relationship with the City on a permanent basis.
As the founding partner of Gyunn, Waddell, Carroll & Lockaby, P.C., Jim has over 30 years of experience in local government law. In addition to representing the City of Salem, Jim advises the City’s School Board, serves as County Attorney for Alleghany County and Franklin County, and as general counsel to the Western Virginia Regional Jail Authority, the Roanoke Valley Juvenile Detention Commission, the Roanoke Valley Resource Authority, the Giles County Public Service Authority, and Giles County Public Schools.
