Michael W.S. Lockaby Named Bedford Town Attorney

August 6, 2021

The Bedford Town Council recently appointed firm partner Michael W.S. Lockaby as the new Town Attorney. Fellow partner Jeremy E. Carroll will also provide the locality legal counsel as needed. GWCL has substantial knowledge of the Town of Bedford through our involvement in a variety of matters, such as providing legal guidance on several redevelopment projects, on legal matters related to the town’s electric utility service, advising on personnel issues, and representing town personnel in civil litigation. We appreciate the work we provided the town in the past and look forward to expanding our representation moving forward.

In addition to the Town of Bedford, Mike serves as part-time County Attorney for Botetourt County and general counsel to the Southside Network Authority, the Franklin County Broadband Authority, the Economic Development Authority of the City of Salem, and will serve as regular counsel to the Town of Bedford Redevelopment and Housing Authority. He continues to handle various projects and pieces of litigation for local government clients around the Commonwealth. Jeremy also serves as County Attorney for the County of Halifax, Town Attorney for the Town of Vinton, and Counsel for the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, and Blue Ridge Resource Authority, among others.
