GWCL Assists Vinton with Hotel Deal

August 3, 2021

Firm partner Jeremy Carroll assisted the Town of Vinton with an economic development deal that will bring a new hotel to the town. The McDevitt Company, a retail real estate firm, plans to construct a 90-to-120 room hotel in Vinton’s downtown business district that will bring new jobs and tax revenue to the area. Jeremy assisted town officials, including Town Manager Pete Peters, in preparing the necessary documents for the transaction. The Vinton town council unanimously approved the plans for the development.

This is the third economic development project GWCL has recently worked on with Vinton. The other two projects are the former Vinton Motors building and the historic Gish Mill property. Vinton Motors is now Vinton Vineyard Station, a shopping center that features brick oven pizza restaurant, “Joe Goodpies,” plus four small boutique shops. It opened earlier this year. Gish Mill was recently rezoned for mixed-use development with plans to include a restaurant, marketplace, and apartments. Construction crews have begun clearing the property with plans to begin rehabbing the mill structure soon.

Roanoke County has been an instrumental part of each of these three economic development projects.
