Judge Dismisses Racial Profiling Claim

March 28, 2018

On March 22, 2018, at the conclusion of the plaintiff’s evidence the court granted judgment as a matter of law to the defendant Albemarle County police officer defended by Jim Guynn.  The Honorable Norman K. Moon, U.S. District Judge, presided over the two-day trial of the racial profiling claim filed in the U.S. District court for the Western District of Virginia.  “[T]he plaintiffs did not present adequate evidence that the officer was treating black residents differently than white residents” leading to the case’s dismissal.

Jim Guynn gave a statement that “We are pleased that the judge agreed that the case against [the police officer] had no merit and granted judgment to him as a matter of law.”
